Hi, I'm Dr. Jeremy Faris, owner of Port City Animal Hospital. I completed my undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech, where I earned dual bachelor's degrees in Biology and Wildlife Science in 2005. I went on to pursue both an MPH and a DVM from the University of Florida, graduating in 2012. My early career included roles as a veterinary assistant and technician, which provided invaluable hands-on experience with patient care and surgical support. After veterinary school, I worked at Webb Animal Hospital from 2012 to 2017, then offered relief services in the area from 2017 to 2018.
In 2018, I began my journey as a practice owner at Port City Animal Hospital, and have been providing exceptional care to the pets in the Savannah community ever since. I was honored to be recognized in the 2024 "Best of Savannah" awards as both a top veterinarian and for my hospital’s services.
Why I Chose This Profession
The bond between pets and their families has always been inspiring to me, and I knew I wanted to work in a field where I could support and enhance that connection. Veterinary medicine allows me to not only help animals live healthier lives but also to be a trusted partner for families who rely on us to care for their pets.
Favorite Part of My Job
I love working up complex cases and finding the root cause of health issues. Each patient presents a unique challenge, and I find great satisfaction in the process of diagnosing and managing their care. My goal is to provide the care each pet needs to live a full, happy life at home with their family, and seeing them return home feeling good again is the best part of what I do. There's really nothing better than being able to be a part of the human-animal bond in this way.
Personal Hobbies & Interests
When I’m not at the clinic, I enjoy spending quality time with my three kids, fishing, and cheering on my favorite sports teams — Go Hokies! Being a dad is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I make the most of every moment with my family.
